Mark Wahlberg in Quincy wearing the uniform of a Boston Police Sargent.
Despite the attempt of some so called “high powered VIP” to voice opposition to the film, “Patriots’ Day” has begun filming this week in Quincy. The Boston Globe reported that the film is expected to premiere in Boston on December 21. š

I had a elderly parent who was laying on the floor listening to the action unfold. Zero interest in having the tanks and SWAT teams in the neighborhood again, movie or no movie.
Plus, they aren’t going to do it right. No way I’m going to see it.

Spotlight was able to do it right, so I disagree that it is a foregone conclusion that “they” will not do it right. Plus, Watertown is not being used, Quincy is being used as a stand-in for Watertown, so your elderly parent should not see anything of the film crew. I am curious as to whether the Arsenal Building will be used or if they will use actual news footage for the CNN related stuff, because I cannot think of a site anywhere else in Massachusetts that could be an effective replacement for the Arsenal building.

Watertown REJECTED their request to film there. I thought you knew that so added some perspective with those who lived it. Are you kidding me with that comment?
Marky Mark is going to create a bullshit movie, that is obvious, it’s going to be the basic Hollywood hero movie, same script they just change the good guys and bad guys, doesn’t matter what the real story is, same f’n script, change the setting. “Based on a true story”. If you are too dumb to know that I feel bad for you.
Plus, they could give a rats a** about the arsenal.

however, I live in a world in which psychic abilities have been shown to be hokum repeatedly, so if it is “wait and see” approach, if that isn’t too much to ask.

so if it is āwait and seeā approach, if that isnāt too much to ask.
should say:
so I will take a “wait and see” approach, if that is not too much to ask.

….the movie will be a huge commercial failure. Too low key for Vin Diesel fans (a gun and a boat? One explosion?) and too exploitative for everyone else. They seem to be paying themselves well, too.
And the rest of the nation isn’t nearly as interested in Bahston as we think they are. I mean, what’s an arsenal?

The images have faded into the collective memory. With mass shootings a regular occurrence in this country (for reasons absolutely nobody can identify), even the perpetrator’s salaciously exotic origins are no longer newsworthy. It’ll be just another Wahlberg Boston movie, except without the talking bear.
I don’t know if it’s “too soon”. This is what a terrorist wants: to permanently change our way of life (in that way, 9/11 provoked exactly the reaction OBL wanted). Best way to handle it is not be cowed. Israeli restaurants that are bombed often have a goal of reopening the next day.

I think it’s pretty obvious that the proliferation of guns and lack of political will to do anything about it are the reasons.

I figure it is obvious, and anyone who disagrees does so for personal gain in some form.
