on House Bill HB 4343 at 617-722-2000 to pass the Transgender Anti – Discrimination Bill to end one of the last vestiges of prejudice against our GLBTQ brothers and sisters.
I just spoke to my Rep. Paul Brodeurs’ (D-Melrose) office and they confirmed that the House is considering 30 amendments to the bill and then it will go to the Conference Committee to be reconciled with the Senate bill that has already passed. Evidently the major difference between the two versions is that the Senate provisions will go into effect IMMEDIATELY. The Governor reportedly supports the House version which has a waiting period attached.
Today is the official start of Gay Pride Month in Massachusetts with the Boston Pride Parade scheduled to kick off next Saturday, June 11 at 12 noon in Copley Square. The parade will pass the State House and end at City Hall Plaza.
I am proud to announce to our many friends and allies on BMG that our amazing Co-Chair of Bay State Stonewall Democrats, Claire Naughton, will be honored as Grand Marshall of the parade. Please join us to celebrate this new milestone on the path to freedom for ALL of our citizens.
