Now, our Wannabe Autocrat – in – Chief says he won’t commit to a peaceful transfer of power following November’s election whether he wins or loses: “Well, we’re going to have to see what happens. Get rid of the ballots and you’ll have a very peaceful — there won’t be a transfer, frankly. There’ll be a continuation.”

This is a link to yesterday’s excellent Atlantic piece. It is a required read for those who insist that concern about a peaceful transfer of power are “paranoid”.

I did read it; more clickbait from a journalist lacking a civics education IMO.

Donald Trump and his GOP co-conspirators have told us what they are doing.
The question is what, if anything, we do about it.

We are in an even greater crisis. More than 40% of voters will be voting in favor of this. Even if we pull it off and put Biden in the White House, without the Senate we are still just a breath away from the same crisis. Mitch McConnell will allow the nation to crumble at its core even more to insure another Trump.
If we manage to win the Senate, that crisis is still not over unless we come down HARD on Trump, Barr, all of them. If we play nice and allow these men to thrive, it would be like allowing Osama Bin Laden to live his life out in peace out of respect and a sense of civility.
We need to align the Supreme Court to reflect the portrait of the entire nation, not just 40%. We need to bring justice to Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia with statehood. We need to strengthen the Hatch Act and expand it to include the president….and that’s only what we need to to in the first few months.

We need to aggressively investigate, prosecute, convict, and incarcerate Donald Trump and his family, all or most of his cabinet, all or most of his judiciary nominees, and most of the Senate and House GOP leadership.
I suspect this will require a strong independent prosecutor — I’d actually like to see the investigation led or at least overseen by prosecutors from a neutral nation like Canada or Germany.
America has never faced anything like this in our history.
I think we’re in the end-game of a multi-year effort by Vladimir Putin to accomplish a takeover of the US by exploiting corrupt players in our political system. This is the same pattern that Mr. Putin used in the Ukraine and elsewhere, and he is known for playing the long game.
In parallel with informed by this is an urgent and immediate need for a sweeping investigation leading to the impeachment of every member of the judiciary appointed by Donald Trump and approved by Mitch McConnell’s senate.
I think the changes you describe are important and vital, and I think they must follow the actions I suggest.

Senate looks very good for Dems, and there is bill circulating to drastically recalibrate the balance of power between the presidency and Congress.
