Every home in the U.S. can soon order 4 free COVID – 19 tests. The tests will be completely free — there are no shipping costs and you don’t need to enter a credit card number. Ordering begins January 19 at COVIDtests.gov — an official website of the US government.

I hope it works better than the official website of the US government that was designed to encourage registration for Obama care.
Or, for that matter, official websites of the US government that allow taxpayers to actually receive tax refunds.
I’d like to see less hype and more reality, especially from the US government.
Be careful, Tom. You’re beginning to sound more and more like the Republican who claims government doesn’t work, then proves it by getting elected. 🙂
I’m just a programmer. I’ve spent a lifetime laboring hard to make things like websites WORK.
The rollout of the ObamaCare website was a disaster. Have you been paying attention to the problems at the IRS, specifically with getting refunds?
The great thing about engineering is that the question of whether a given website works or not is not a matter of opinion. When the response to a click or button is a “500 Server Error” or worse, then it just plain doesn’t work. It doesn’t matter whether the user, observer, or responsible agency is Republican or Democrat — if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work.
There is nothing Republican about wanting the goods and services produced by my government to actually WORK.
Guess what? Government CAN work! I just placed my COVID19 test order. It took all of 5 minutes.
Heh — I’m glad you got this far. Please let us know when you actually receive the tests and then whether they work.
The impatience I have with things that don’t work goes far beyond the government. Our product development culture has evolved to the point where it is very good at making something work just well enough to collect its sale price, and then fail.
I bought a pair of magnetic cup hooks in October. The magnet on one of them separated from the plastic body by Christmas — while carrying the weight of a single set of measuring spoons.
Tom, you are too funny. 🙂 They say deliver within 7 to 10 days. We’ll see.
The tests were available yesterday, a day AHEAD of schedule if you can believe that!
