If only President Biden and the Democrats would take a clue from Trump and attack the media, maybe Democrats could hold the house and make significant gains in the senate. Yes, that would mean Democrats losing BBF status with the likes of Rachel Maddow, Stephanie Ruhle, Joe Scarborough, Phillip Rucker; an almost endless list of well known talking heads on national media. No doubt holiday parties will be sparsely attended this year and the mood will be tense, but is it worth losing the house and possibly the senate just to be part of the beltway in-crowd?
Okay, what the hell am I talking about? As a wise man once said, “It’s the economy, stupid” and the media, all of it from Fox to NPR continues to tell the American people that the economy is in rough shape AND that the majority of Americans trust the Republicans to fix the economy. Would anyone in the media care to point out that presidents Clinton, Obama, and Biden all inherited an economy in ruins and managed, with Democratic policy, to revitalize the economy? So why not be an honest reporter on MSNBC or CNN and tell the audience, the majority of Americans trust the Republicans to fix the economy even though it has been Democrats who have actually fixed down economies for the past four decades?
Yes, inflation is upon us. The media pounds that message daily, but it neglects to tell the American people that inflation is worldwide and the USA inflation rate is much lower than many western nations. Yes, wages have increased and the media will lead one to believe that this is driving inflation but the media is not reporting that the lowest-paid workers have, on average, been seeing pay increases that exceed inflation. If these people are living paycheck to paycheck now, as bad as that is, they are still better off than they were in 2019. This “news” is lost on the American people.
