You didn’t believe they would overturn Roe. They did.
Seniors like us better believe if they get power they will destroy Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

I was watching a news report on the current mess in the UK where working class citizens voted for Brexit and the conservatives who promised to deliver, However, unlike the conservative upper crust, the working class is still in favor of a strong state as it relates to healthcare and financial security of the working class. That, according to the reporter, was behind the exit of Liz Truss.
I doubt there are many MAGA voters who want cuts to their Medicare and Social Security. Anyone who’s ever been to “The Villages” in Florida, ground zero for Trump Supporters, would be surrounded by voters very dependent on Social Security and Medicare. Sure, they want the military at the southern border, and think that crime is on the rise (it is not) and inflation is Biden’s fault (it isn’t)….and for all those reasons they are voting Republican.
Are Democrats willing to be the party that promises to broaden Medicare and increase Social Security AND willing to give those two issues top priority over climate change, women’s issues, LGBTQ+ issues, and all the rest?
It seems to me that doing so would lead to more election victories which, by the way, would allow our elected officials to address the aforementioned issues that were given a second place position on the platform.

The best answer for Social Security is a mix of the following:
– Remove the cap on withholding
– Continue to adjust Full Retirement Age based on actuarial data
These two are straightforward, have been done before, and will solve the current issue with the Social Security trust fund.
Medicare is good enough for now (with the recent changes from the Joe Biden administration).
Democrats can proudly trumpet and run on:
1. The Democrats created and consistently strengthen Social Security
2. The GOP has relentlessly tried to destroy it — over and over
3. If you like Social Security and Medicare, vote for the Democrat.

Sadly, Republicans are promoting the idea that they want to “shore up save Social Security” while all they are doing is to cut back on the disbursement by increasing the age of eligibility and overall payments in general. And of course, the “liberal” media does not challenge them on this.
