August 15, 2009 By yellow-dog

MassInsight reportedly has a poll putting Gov. Deval Patrick's approval rating at 19%. I say reportedly because I like to see the methodology. There's no link at MassInsight, and no idea what questions were asked. Still, 19 … [Read more...]

Tax Blast from the Past

January 28, 2009 By yellow-dog

I wasn't too politically thoughtful in the late 1980s, but I remember the cuts that Proposition 2  1/2 brought on. Gary's comments on the push to tax legal services led me to do a LexisNexis search. I associated the tax on services … [Read more...]

Don't ask for whom the toll tolls. It tolls for thee. I know we're desperate for money, but charging out-of-staters to drive into the state is a lunatic idea. What's to stop other states from returning the favor? It's a classic example of … [Read more...]

What’s the Matter With Unions? And Liberals?

December 11, 2008 By yellow-dog

DiMasi's plan is unnecessary. The speaker's proposal implies that municipal leaders across the state are seeking to enter the GIC and the local unions are resisting unreasonably. That is not the case. According to health insurance analysts … [Read more...]

Are the Lies of John McCain Catching Up With Him?

September 13, 2008 By yellow-dog

Mr. Obama has also been accused of distortions, but this week Mr. McCain has found himself under particularly heavy fire for a pair of headline-grabbing attacks. First the McCain campaign twisted Mr. Obama's words to suggest that he had … [Read more...]

Oh…. Mr. Holden town leader…. what you do not understand is that MBTA Communities is not just a housing law, but a survey of resistance.

In ten years, your town will have lost its control over housing. Over this decade, #mapoli will slowly re-establish control of all zoning.

Rus Lodi @ruslodi

Losing local control of zoning was a major sticking point in the discussions.

“We’re not saying we’re against multifamily housing. We’re going to grow — it’s saying we’re not going to be strongarmed into something by the state," said one member. 2/7
