Cliven Bundy: Conservative’s Pig in a Poke

April 26, 2014 By steven-j-gulitti 59 Comments

Grover Norquist Collateral Casualty of 2012?

November 12, 2012 By steven-j-gulitti 5 Comments

In light of the election post mortems taking place among conservatives, perhaps no one is more delusional, with the exception of Karl Rove, than Grover Norquist. Norquist, a high priest of limited government, is having nothing to do with … [Read more...]

Why Can’t Conservatives Be Honest About Keystone?

January 24, 2012 By steven-j-gulitti 6 Comments

It has been quite amusing to read over some comments posted recently that tried to portray Barack Obama as being opposed to building the Keystone Pipeline when the reality is that the president isn’t opposed to the project at all, he’s just … [Read more...]

John Boehner: Caught Between a Rock and a Tea Party

March 4, 2011 By steven-j-gulitti 1 Comment

Few can forget Minority Leader John Boehner's constant haranguing of President Obama with the question: "Mr. President, where are the jobs?" In fact, in the run up to the 2012 mid-term elections all Boehner and the rest of the Republican … [Read more...]

Republican Leaders Again Equivocate on Spending Cuts

January 31, 2011 By steven-j-gulitti 1 Comment

Once more since arriving on Capitol Hill, the new Republican dominated House of Representatives and the newly reinforced Republican Senate minority has equivocated on the topic of spending cuts. By now we are all well aware that the … [Read more...]

When Scott Brown won in January 2010, Alan Khazei told us, “you can’t read too much into it. It’s a special election!”

Bad result but good to keep in mind.

Looks like JEFF TURCO wins the race to replace former House Speaker Robert DeLeo in the 19th Suffolk District. JUAN PABLO JARAMILLO comes in second by just under 300 votes.

Yikes.

Adam Bass@AdamBassWCCS

The idea of a Pro Life Trump supporter winning Suffolk 19 is not out of the ordinary. Winthrop is particular is much more right leaning that Revere. And Revere got severely out voted. When Capobianco had his story, that left you with two progressives. #mapoli

.@CDCgov dir. @RWalensky, once part of MA's #COVID19 advsy board, said

"Now is not the time to relax the critical safeguards that we know can stop the spread of COVID-19 ... not when we are so close."

But @MassGovernor pushes to reopen.

Who is advising Gov. Baker now?

It's time to state outright that Charlie Baker's science advisory team is the Chamber of Commerce. That's why we were slow to act last year, why our public health network got ignored on vaccines & why our reopenings have flown in the face of data, expert advice & common sense. https://twitter.com/MikeConnollyMA/status/1366423893276303364

Just reiterating my COVID philosophy: Instead of bucking advice from the CDC and Dr. Fauci (by further reopening the Mass. economy), we should #TaxTheRich and use the new revenue to provide cash relief to people in need and small businesses while also investing in health equity.
