November 2016 – America at the Dawn of the Great Dismal

November 6, 2016 By steven-j-gulitti

In mid-October Hillary Clinton was ahead of Donald Trump by 11 points, as of this morning, 11/6/16, most of that lead had dissipated thanks to the latest batch of e-mails, which may have been inappropriately released, many of which may in … [Read more...]

The Weekly Standard, A Sometime Champion of Freedom of Speech

December 3, 2014 By steven-j-gulitti

You know for all of the articles championing freedom of speech, which have appeared of late in the Weekly Standard, I was taken aback by the recent article: ‘Anti-Military Anthem Played at 'Concert for Valor'. This past year numerous pieces … [Read more...]

Mr. Fiscal Responsibility

April 22, 2012 By steven-j-gulitti

Remember how Newt Gingrich so reverently and so often spoke about the need to be a good steward of the public's money? Odd but the principle of fiscal sanity doesn't seem to apply to Mr. Gingrich himself. Of late it's come to the fore that … [Read more...]

Have Libertarians Forgotten the Republican Primaries?‏

March 23, 2012 By steven-j-gulitti

Back in September of 2010 I detailed in an article "Where Have all the Libertarian’s Gone?" how for all of the attention paid to Libertarian ideas there was little in the way of Libertarian electoral success to show for it. To wit: "In the … [Read more...]

Will Republicans End Higher Deficits, Not Likely‏

February 4, 2012 By steven-j-gulitti

We've heard the refrain time and time and time again, our deficits have to come down, we can no longer sustain this sort of spending or this scope of government. We'll to those who seem to think that somehow replacing the Obama … [Read more...]

The Alinsky Obsession

January 28, 2012 By steven-j-gulitti

The Tea Party’s Empty Dance Card

January 20, 2012 By steven-j-gulitti

Exactly! Voters understand that our tax code has been regressive and that we need to be investing more in both education and transportation -- as well as other areas like affordable housing and environmental protection.

We shouldn't go backwards.

#mapoli

Raise Up MA @RaiseUpMA

Voters were clear in November: Massachusetts supports a fairer tax code.

Giving big tax cuts to the wealthiest states takes us backwards from that goal.

Let your legislators know: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/rum-fy24-budget.

The charitable deduction is such a shameless giveaway to the rich and takes the allocation of funds outside of the process of democratic deliberation. #mapoli

Progressive Mass @ProgressiveMass

We don't need more tax cuts for the rich. That's why we're proud to support legislation from @JamieEldridgeMA and @erika4rep to target the charitable deduction to those who aren't *already* getting such a benefit on their federal taxes.
