D.C. officials said yesterday that the Bush administration is refusingto reimburse the District for most of the costs associated with nextweek’s inauguration, breaking with precedent and forcing the city todivert $11.9 million from homeland security projects.
Federal officials have told the Districtthat it should cover the expenses by using some of the $240 million infederal homeland security grants it has received in the past threeyears — money awarded to the city because it is among the places athighest risk of a terrorist attack.
Wow. That’s "Taxation without Representation", Exhibit A. How about raising that cash from your fatcat donors, Mr. Preznit?
