Thanks again to Joel Patterson for getting me on this site back when his son was a newborn and I was a teenager. Now his son is a teenager and I have a newborn! It’s been a wild ride.
Thanks to Tom for his Davis Sq. Hospitality. Fred, Tommy, Mark Bail, and Terry for helping me find work in politics and Mark and Joel again for valuable advice when I transitioned to teaching.
Thanks to Christopher for being a consistently civil sparring partner even when I wasn’t. And to the editors past and present, but especially Charley for keeping this going.
I’m hoping Pablo and I can convince Greg Dennis and the other ranked choice voting folks to adopt a jungle primary hybrid like Alaska and Nevada have done. It’s the only way it will pass in Mass where the bulk of voters are unaffiliated. I also think it’s the best way we break the fever of extremism, populism, and partisanship destroying our politics.
Keep fighting the good fights everyone. Yes on 1, Yes on 4, and a D trifecta on Beacon Hill will provide us with good things locally and I’m beginning to feel optimistic that Biden can win a second term and the Dems can reclaim the House. Holding onto the Senate will be harder, but that’s what I thought this cycle as well.
Until then have a great holiday season, happy new year, and many happy returns to come.

I’ve enjoyed our discussions as well (but we have yet to meet!)
