President Bush has urged Democrats not to despair and encouraged them to run for office in Texas with a “big heart.” According to the Globe, the President met Tuesday with the right-leaning Boston Herald’s editorial board to discuss Republican electoral prospects in Massachusetts. Bush noted that our last three Governors were all Republicans. “Those are people who won elections in a tough state — which shows it is possible,” he said. “So my advice is do not despair — and up-and-coming conservative-oriented political people ought to find a way into the system,” he added. “Run with a big heart and (do) not be afraid to take on the big challenge of running,” he said. Finally, Bush said: “I would hope the Democrats would say the same thing about Texas.”
