Apparently the wingnuts have been onto this for a while, but the news is just hitting the rest of us now: Jerry Corsi, the Swift Boat Liar stalwart and co-author of the slanderous "Unfit for Command," is making noises about moving to Massachusetts to run against Kerry for Senate in 2008.
This is the guy who described Islam as "a worthless, dangerous Satanic religion," and who thoughtfully commented that "Islam is a peaceful religion as long as the women are beaten, the boys buggered, and the infidels killed." And about the Catholic religion, of which he is supposedly a devout member, he had this to say: "So this is what the last days of the Catholic Church are going to look like. Buggering boys undermines the moral base and the laywers rip the gold off the Vatican altars. We may get one more Pope, when this senile one dies, but that’s probably about it." Of course, he now says he was not being "serious" when he wrote these comments (and there are dozens more) — just "satirical" and "provocative." Yeah, and monkeys might fly outta my butt.
We assume that His Excellency Governor Romney would not want this bigot representing Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate. So we look forward to hearing Romney’s swift (get it? swift? heh) disavowal of anything to do with Corsi, and his announcement that the state Republican party will not back Corsi. Governor?
