Just in case you’re new to this blogosphere thing, I gotta say: if you’re not reading Josh Marshall‘s continuing coverage of the Social Security Super Bowl, well hell, you just ain’t living. Josh has a hold of this thing like a big dog with a dirty, slobber-laden old tennis ball in his mouth. And he won’t let you take it from him!

Josh is doing great work. As I’ve noted before, another excellent reporter on Social Security is the Daily Howler. Today’s headline: “King of the Liars — George Bush,” in reference to Bush’s outrageous “town hall meeting” the other day.

Where are you guys from? Are you involved with the Mass. Democratic Party?

Hey Ken,No, we’re not officially tied in with the Dems, except in an occasional volunteer capacity. Just three garden-variety Massachusetts libs.I like your blog; I have a sneaking suspicion that in spite of the “bonanza” that BushCo is promising the financial houses, our Enron adminstration does not have unanimous, unquestioning support from Wall Street on Social Insecurity. I suspect we’ll be seeing that in short order.

I’ve been working with the Swing State Project to try to get a blog for the Massachusetts Democratic Party. I just sent the email today, but if they’re interested, any of you want to help?I seriously doubt Bush’s social security bill will pass, but you have to remember that Karl Rove is nothing if not smart. If he sees it failing, he will just give up before it starts, or when they release the plan it will have some sort of unexpected wildcard. I personally hope it goes to a vote and narrowly loses. It could be the Democrats’ version of 1994.
