A bipartisan group of bloggers and other online types have drafted a pretty good letter to the Federal Election Commission urging them to extend media protections to the online crowd. Our earlier discussions of the possibility that the FEC will regulate the internet are here, here, here, and here.
In other blogosphere news, a new poll suggests that while a slight majority of Americans don’t know what blogs are, a substantial number read them regularly. Some highlights: 25% of Americans (about 75 million people, assuming a US population of 300 million) are either "very" or "somewhat" familiar with blogs; 15% (45 million Americans) read them a few times a month, and 3% (9 million Americans) read them every day. Also interesting was that 24% of "liberals," but only 15% of "conservatives," said that they read blogs at least monthly.
