The LA Times reports that "’Culture of Life’ Issues Split GOP." Indeed. We’ve already pointed out that a true "culture of life" does not slavishly adhere to the views of Jerry Falwell and his ilk, and that politicians who claim allegiance to a "culture of life" may be embarrassed when they are confronted with the conflict between a real "culture of life" and the need to serve their political base. Shame on the hypocrites Tom DeLay, George W. Bush, and the rest of them who have transformed the tragedy of Terri Schiavo into a national circus, and have turned their backs on the alleged "principles" of the Republican party, which at one time included keeping government – particularly the federal government – out of people’s private lives.
