He’s officially in the race. Story here:
"All over the state people tell me the same things," he said. "Oureconomy is weak at best and has no credible champion for businessdevelopment. Our public schools — from kindergarten through communitycolleges and public universities — fail too many of our young people. And nearly 500,000 fellow citizens have no health care, while the restof us are too often frustrated with the coverage we have."
This is a smart move to officially declare himself before everyone else, since his big problem is name recognition.
It’s a good start. He listened, he’s made a good impression on people who have heard him, and he’s got a ready-made audience for what he has to say. Now it’s time for him to distinguish himself from the pack with boldness, purpose, and specificity.
Update: His website is up now.

Deval will be appearing tonight (Thursday) at 7:30 at the Cary Library in Lexington. This appearance has been scheduled for some time, but it’s obviously a bigger deal now that he’s officially announced. I plan to be there, and I hope that other readers will be there too. Also, I’m pleased to note that the “In the News” page on Deval’s website has a couple of links to posts on this blog!

A Romney-Patrick debate will be FAR more interesting than a Romney-Reilly one…
