Hat tip to Poorman for this Reuters report:
Amnesty International appeared to base some of its allegations on detainees, "people who hate America, people that have been trained in some instances to disassemble, that means not tell the truth. So it was an absurd report," Bush said.
George W. Bush. The man who put the "ass" back in dissemble.

Wait, that couldn’t have been the same George Bush that cited Amnesty information when making his case against Iraq at the U.N., that one?

Funny line.AI has it’s problems – giving credence to anybody saying anything being one of them. It also suffers from Moynihan’s Law: the number of stories about rights violations is inversely proportional to the amount of actual human rights violations. Why? Because places like N. Korea or Iraq just shoot people who might speak up, and we let them live and give them the freedom of speech to complain about it (whether it happened or not).AI’s anti-American bias (which derives from the reports of leftist groups) is only surpassed by its fairly well-documented history of anti-Israel bias. You don’t think AI is a hard core leftist organization? I searched AI for ‘Ruby Ridge’ and saw exactly one entry – in a footnote to an AI report wanting Timothy McVeigh’s execution stopped, entitled, laughably: “United States of America: The illusion of control: “Consensual” executions, the impending death of Timothy McVeigh, and the brutalizing futility of capital.”Heh. I couldn’t possibly make the case any better than they do.
