Arnold vetoes gay marriage bill.
That’s too bad, and maybe a mistake on his part. The religious right is just not that powerful in CA — certainly not the tipping-point level power they are in many other states. And Arnold’s not really their guy anyway. He could have changed the narrative, thrown everyone a big curveball, and scored points with moderates and libertarian-types by signing it. Of course, he also would have never spoken at a Republican convention — hell, a Republican country club — again. But it would have been fun to see. Too bad. He cited a 2000 anti-marriage ballot initiative (Prop 22) for his veto.
