The good folks over at redstate.org have posted the questionnaire that Harriet Miers has filled out in preparation for her Senate Judiciary Committee hearings.
Some amusing and interesting nuggets:
Earlier this year, I received notice that my dues for the District of Columbia Bar were delinquent and as a result my ability to practice law in D.C. has been suspended. I immediately sent the dues in to remedy the delinquency. The non-payment was not intentioned, and I corrected the situation upon receiving the letter.
1993-2005: Member, Petroleum Club, a social and business club.
1987: Member, Progressive Voters League, a local political organization.
Miers represented an insurance company being sued by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dallas in a child sexual abuse case. The Diocese was trying to establish that its insurance policies covered a $100 million verdict against it based on child sexual abuse; Miers, presumably, took the position that the actions were not covered under the relevant policies. The case settled, but it would be interesting to know more about the positions Miers took prior to settlement.
