Mike Wallace was on WBUR’s On Point this morning. You simply must hear the one question that he would ask George Bush. I won’t transcribe it, but start listening to the clip at about 27:30.
Not so much a question as a complete demolition, you’ll find.
UPDATE: Ok, I transcribed the best part:
WALLACE: What in the world, sir, Mr. President, prepared you — what in yourbackground prepared you to be the Commander in Chief of the supremepower in the world? Your military background? No. Your businessbackground? No. Your travels? You were an incurious man for such a longtime, I’m at a loss to understand. And you were — according to BobWoodward in his book Plan of Attack — you said when asked if you evertalked to your dad, George H.W. Bush, Number 41, about what you mightdo better or different: "No", you said, according to Bob Woodward. "No,I look to a higher Father."
Give me a break.
…. So many people say [W] is such a likeable guy. [Clears throat.] I pass.
Oh wow, he’s from Brookline, and went to the Devotion School! Well, yet another great person coming out of the Brookline school system. (Brookline’s schools are the reason my family chose here, rather than anywhere else in the US, when we came over from Israel when I was 7)
sorry to re-appear. Coz, you are soooo right. Brookline is a special place. BHS gave us among others, theo epstein, who showed us for 2 years what real class is. And sees a bigger picture in life then the b.s. he sees as a minor celebrity working for a narcistic organization. His fathers life story is very interetsing and one can understand why theo sees larry luchino as a schmuck. You’re parents are very smart people.
love ya troll….welcome backWhen my father?s family ?got their sorry asses out of Ireland? (excuse me?. make that ?emigrated from Ireland?) they chose Everett Massachusetts over Chelsea & South Boston due to the wonderful school system and fine assortment of fresh chesses.
The transcript just doesn’t do the clip justice….Listen to it! Wallace’s pauses between as he answers his own questions, “Your military background?” “Your business background?” are priceless.
Also, the whole interview is worth great, not just that bit.
Good point about the myth of W’s “likability”, Mr. Wallace. Even if it was true, who the hell really thinks that wanting to sit down and have a drink with someone is some kind of litmus test for running the free world? If that’s the case, why don’t we just elect Barney Gumble or Norm from Cheers to the nation’s highest office.Mr. President, sir, you are a complete and total fraud.
How did Chris Wallace fall so far from the tree?
Chris was raised by his stepfather, former CBS News president Bill Leonard.
