Bruce Fein’s WaPo op-ed on Samuel Alito’s nomination to the Supreme Court is chock-full of mischaracterizations, misleading arguments, and everything else you’d expect from a Heritage Foundation type.
But his essential point is correct. Fein criticizes Alito, and the White House, for refusing to acknowledge that the views Alito expressed years ago might have some relationship to the views he holds now. And really, if this guy is such a principled judge, wouldn’t we be surprised to learn that his thinking had shifted as dramatically over the last 20 years as the White House apparently wants us to believe?
What are they so afraid of?
