Gosh, it’s just too much to expect that our Perpetual Candidate would actually do something because it’s the right thing. WBUR’s Martha Bebinger had a great report this morning on Governor Romney’s shamless two-faced behavior in trashing the Regional Greenhouse Gas Intiative, with these choice quotes.
Hereâs New Jersey Commissioner of Environmental Protection Brad Campbell: “Governor Romneyâs turnaround was stunning, because in response to his concerns, we crafted provisions that effectively served as a safety valve to avoid any price spikes. But people recognize that this was a case in which the politics of a potential Presidential race trumped the public interest and good policy.”
And hereâs Dale Burke, a senior attorney at the Natural Resources Defense Council: “It was just appalling behavior, if you think youâre negotiating in good faith, and then you realize there was literally nothing that the states could have done that would have kept Massachusetts on board, because he was determined to walk away from this, it appears now, from the get-go.”
Fasten your seatbelts, folks, because this is the pattern for the rest of Our Guv’s ugly single term. Every possible state interest will get sold out to the highest bidder, because he needs a lot of rich friends with Dead Presidents in order for him to be a live one. On his way out, Romney seems willing to trash this state like a drunken frat boy at the end of his lease.
Mission Accomplished!
