Just in case you missed one of the announcements on the front page about user accounts:
To post diaries or comments on this site, you have to be signed in. If you want to make a new account, it’s easy – just click the “make a new account” link in the sign-in box in the upper left, and follow the instructions.
However, if you had a user name at our old typepad site that you’d like to keep, here’s the deal. If you commented under a particular name and you had left a REAL email address, you should be able to sign in easily here. What you do is: enter your “user name” in the sign-in box, and click “forgot password.” The system will email you a password, and then you can sign in (you’ll probably want to change your password right away, which you do by going to your “page” and clicking on “profile”).
If you commented under a particular name that you’d like to keep and left a FAKE email address, it’s a bit more complicated because the system has to be able to email you a password. What I’d suggest is that you simply send me an email indicating who you are, and I will manually reset the system so that it associates your name with a real email (fear not – these emails will never be displayed on the site). Then you just proceed as above – sign in using your old user name and wait for the email to show up (which should take about 5 seconds).
