So, quite frankly, I think today’s unearthing makes Tom Reilly tarnished — it completely demonstrates why establishment candidates continue to lose in a race to the corner office.
In case you missed the story today it seems as though Reilly did intervene in the sad story of a drunk-driving Southboro girl who killed herself, her sister and seriously injured a friend. But contrary to what Reilly had indicated so far, he is not just “a champion for victims rights” as some have said. He is a man who halts criminal investigations in response to big donors — wealthy men who can raise him at least $10,000, and probably much more.
I haven’t yet decided what makes me more upset about his actions… that he wasn’t forward in the several press conferences he’s had and that information had to be dragged out of him? Yeah. That too. That he probably played a major roll in pushing a serious criminal investigation under the rug just because he had the power to help do so? Yep. That there is probably more information he is not telling the public, simply because the news hasn’t picked up on it yet? You can bet on it. And that’s the kind of person he is, which is why he won’t ever be Governor.
