Brian McGrory apparently hates Mike Capuano. His column in today’s Globe is just completely over the top, and amounts to little more than name-calling. Totally useless as commentary.
Look, I agree that Capuano screwed up with his now-legendary $19,000 trip to Brazil, and I agree with everything Charley said about it yesterday. But that doesn’t mean McGrory gets a free pass to call him gratuitous names like “eternally inconsequential.”
Get a grip, Brian.

Quotation #1: Last January, he announced he wasn’t running for governor. When word was splashed across the news media, the public was filled with wrenching questions, the foremost being, ‘Who?’

Quotation #2: The chardonnay set fawns all over him for his Dartmouth degree, liberal views, and street smarts, but even they have to realize he’s shooting his own party in the foot these days.

Now, I don’t really understand how the two of these can co-exist.

If the chardonnay set is fawning all over them, then someone must have known who he was when he announced he wasn’t running for governor.
<

And what qualifies someone as part of the chardonnay set? I assume he’s trying to say that they’re rich liberals, but if so, wouldn’t you think that, with their fawning endorsement, Capuano would have had name recognition and a chance at being governor?

I usually think McGrory’s ok, but this column was absolutely awful. Laziness and straw man cheap shots aren’t really the way to go if you want to become an op-ed columnist.
seems mcgrory, who can be damn good, is challenging long-time champ alex beam for “laziest column of the week”
Alex is always fun to read. Brian is just increasingly annoying.
Well, we already know he doesn’t like to get up early.
