Looks like it’s official folks. Reilly is going to pick Gabrielli in a decision clearly made because Gabrielli’s wealth. Maybe Reilly knows what he’s doing but I think the Dems need fresh faces, new energy to win in 2006 and Gabrielli simply isn’t going to get us there.
Welcome to the two boring white guys ticket…
Please share widely!

While Reilly might pick Gabrielli, this race is not over. Clearly the people of this state see right through Reilly’s move. It’s the activist’s who have to make them understand. I am sick of people complaining about a white ticket and black ticket or ticket based on color or sex. It should be the person with the best ideas, and experince who can walk into the office and get work done on day one. There are still three candidates running for Lt. Gov. Any of which could be a asset. After reading and hearing all three speak I support Tim Murray. At first I was with Silbert, but Murray’s ideas and true understand of the problems facing cities and towns as a current leader was what changed my mind. No other candidate can say they have a strong and ORGANIZED base of support like Murray does. O’Brien and Gabrielli lost every city and town west of 495 except for Worcester in 2002. No other candidate can help out the ticket come November besides Murray with his strong base and connections in central and western mass. I think a Deval, Murray ticket will be a dream team and both men have the support and energy to inspire the base to get out and vote.

Intersting that you switched from Silbert to Murray. I’m undecided (between Murray and SIlbert) and I was considering going for Murray, but then heard them speak at an event and it seemed like no contest. Silbert seemed to be much more of a visionary, with the ability to raise $ to back it up and, most importantly, the ability to reach those suburban moms who will, simply, decide this election. That said, I think Murray has a shot to appeal to these voters, which is why I’m still undecided. I need to see how things play out at this week’s caucus, and in the coming months, before I commit. I am leaning Silbert, though. I guess Murray could balance a Patrick ticket with his insider status, but I fear that if Reilly wins the primary and Murray does too, we’re almost as screwed as we would have been with Gabrieli – i.e. two bland white dudes.

I’m so torn about the various permutations of a ticket, but at least it’s interesting race this year!
