Much has been made about polls lately, but I see another barometer that may bode well for Deval Patrick. I noticed in my hometown newspaper The Greenfield Recorder this morning a small item saying Rep. Chris Donelan is supporting Patrick. Donelan’s a lunchpail Democrat, a former cop, who represents the tool towns of Orange and Greenfield — the kind of pol who you might think would be solidly a Reilly man. But The Recorder quotes Donelan as saying,
“It was refreshing to hear a gubernatorial candidate whose economic plan did not revolve around drastic cuts to our towns in some twisted effort to create ‘economic self-sufficiency,’ What will drive our local economy forward will be ideas, not ideology, and Deval Patrick has good ideas.”
