An interesting debate at Wikipedia over the proper title for His Excellency the Governor. As devoted readers of the blog know, this title (generally accompanied on this page by a virtually sardonic curl of the lip) is, in fact, the correct Constitutional title for our Chief Executive.
Not the end of the issue at Wikipedia. “[H]ow about Acting Governors?” writes Mark Adler. he adds, “I’m concerned about consistency across other Wikipedia articles. For example, … the Jacques Chirac article does not start, “His Excellency Jacques René Chirac …” Rather it just states his name: “Jacques René Chirac.” It even states that Chirac is a Co-Prince of Andorra but the article didn’t start, “Prince Jacques René Chirac.” “Even the article about Queen Elizabeth doesn’t start, ‘Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.'” “On 1/14 I replaced “His Excellency” in the info box. This is indeed the correct title. Any attempts to change this will be reverted. Michael16G” “The title should be taken out. We don’t include honorific prefixes for other people either. Discuss the title in the article if you wish, but take it out away from the infobox. –Apoc2400”
There you have it. Nothing in life is simple. There are also interesting debates about the political tenor of the Log Cabin Republicans, Willard’s position on gay marriage, and other issues. Note that Congressional staff were banned from Wikipedia for a while because of edit fights over political entries.
