The story of Leominster mom Mary Jean, who received a letter threatening felony prosecution for content on her web site (the site is critical of District Attorney John Conte) was the subject of a substantial article in today’s Worcester Telegram & Gazette (sub. req.).
Reporter Richard Nangle brings this new information:
Mary T. Jean of Leominster, who runs the Web site, said she posted the video as part of her ongoing effort to portray Mr. Conte as a self-interested officeholder who uses state police inappropriately. Ms. Jean said the video indicates that state police did not show a search warrant and that she did not understand why she was being threatened with charges since she did not actually tape the arrest.
The blog Retire Conte in 2006 also has a posting on the “Mission Creep” that is evident when the State Police tries to use a law meant to fight organized crime for the purposes of intimidating an ordinary citizen who is using the Internet to criticize a public official.
