The case against the Marlborough police officer who allegedly threatened to put a gun to Pechonis’s son’s head – kicking off this whole bruhaha – is being dropped. The MetroWest Daily News article reports:
Also, a case involving Pechonisâ 20-year-old son, Jared Pechonis, was dismissed Feb. 2, according to a letter signed by Marlborough District Court Clerk Magistrate Paul F. Malloy.
Jared had filed a complaint with the Marlborough Police Department, alleging that [James] Gough threatened to put a gun to his head during a traffic stop in June, and requested a formal court hearing.
“The alleged statement of the Officer did not constitute an imminent threat to you and were merely words of warning by the Officer that if you failed to comply with the lawful instructions of the Police Officer in the future, the Officer may draw his weapon for his own protection,” Malloy wrote in the dismissal letter.
By the way, bail was reduced in the elder Pechonis’s case from $20,000 to $5,000.
