Democracy for America: Boston Calls for a Discussion on High Crimes & Misdemeanors
Boston, MA. On April 5, 2006, The Democracy for America: Boston Group & John Bonifaz, Democratic candidate for Secretary of State, will be holding an open discussion on how the presidency of George W Bush has affected this country and what we the people can do about it. Will Bush be held accountable for lying to the American people to invade Iraq, for the repeated depredations of civil liberties through abuse of the USA PATRIOT Act and violations of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act? Anything and everything is on the table: Congressional investigations, criminal investigations, legal challenges, censure, and impeachment. Come and discuss what you think should be done and learn what you can do. This free and open meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 5th at 7pm at the United South End Settlements: Harriet Tubman House, located on 566 Columbus Ave. RSVP/info at http://www.dfalink.com/boston or Brad Johnson, brad@dfaboston.org (617) 429-9106.
Mr. Bonifaz, a candidate for the Democratic nomination for Secretary of the Commonwealth, is the founder of the National Voting Rights Institute, and led the legal demand for a full recount of the 2004 Ohio presidential election and the constitutional challenge to Bushâs authority to wage war against Iraq absent a congressional declaration of war. He is the author of Warrior-King: The Case for Impeaching George W. Bush.
Democracy for America: Boston is a grassroots organization that meets the first Wednesday of every month to unite diverse citizens in the Boston Area around the principles of civic empowerment, public accountability and transparency in government. We are a local group of Democracy for America, and share its commitment to supporting fiscally responsible, socially progressive candidates at all levels of government. Our goal is to promote grassroots efforts to advance progressive policies and candidates at the local, state, and national levels.

I just want to add a note to let people know how easy our meetings are to get to by T. It’s right at the corner of Columbus Ave and Mass Ave, on the orange line, green line, and #1 bus.

If you’re coming from Cambridge, take the #1 bus from Harvard Square, Central Square, MIT, down Mass Ave to get off at the corner of Columbus Ave (shortly after Tremont St – ask the driver if you’re not sure you’ll recognize it).

From downtown or JP/West Roxbury, take the orange line to the Mass Ave stop. Walk half a block south on Mass Ave to the corner of Columbus. Or, take the green line E branch to Symphony, and walk a couple of blocks south on Mass Ave to the corner of Columbus.

From Brookline, green line to Hynes/ICA, cross Mass Ave (opposite from the Tower Records) and catch the #1 bus southbound to Columbus.
