If you haven’t yet voted for Blue Mass. Group in the final round of the 2005 Koufax awards, and would like to, you have until midnight Sunday to do so. Here’s the link – just leave a comment to vote. (We’ll keep the box in the upper right hand corner of the screen up until voting closes.)
At this point, it seems rather unlikely that we’ll overtake the apparently extremely popular BluegrassReport from the Commonwealth of Kentucky. (Kentucky, by the way, is one of only four “Commonwealths” in the U.S. – we’re a Commonwealth, of course – how fast can you name the other two, and the legal significance of the term?) Of course, that’s what some said about the Red Sox when they were down 3-0 to the Yankees in the 2004 American League pennant race – but we all know how that turned out! So don’t give up! Head on over and vote!
In any event, we’re thrilled and honored just to have been listed among the nine finalists, each of which is excellent and deserves to win. Many, many thanks to everyone who voted for Blue Mass. Group.

Since no one else guessed, I’ll tell you what I found out:

The four commonwealths are MA, KY, VA, and PA. I had three of them, but didn’t guess PA. Puerto Rico is also a commonwealth.

“Commonwealth” means that those things that are not held by individuals are held by all residents in common, not by “the state” as an entity per se.
