The annual South Boston St. Patrick’s Day extravaganza is still going on Channel 56, if you’re looking for a taste of old-time Boston politics. Jon Keller is posting periodic updates on his blog.
My favorite comment so far comes from House Speaker Sal DiMasi, referring to Tom Reilly’s apparently less than hilarious presentation earlier in the morning (which I did not see): “he’s got more starch in him than a Chinese laundry.” Oof – this from the guy at the center of our hopes for progressive health care legislation.
Please share widely!
Yeah, David, that really deserved an Oof…

I think we can all agree that the worst, lamest, most plodding joke of the day came from Deval:

“I do identify with St. Patrick, not just in name,” said Deval Patrick, a candidate for governor. “He drove the snakes out of Ireland. I intend to drive the snakes out of the State House.”

Good one, Deval!
To me Jack Hart looks better and better at these. I get the feeling he knows it sucks, has to keep a lot of people happy, and it is a real pain in the ass for him. But unlike Lynch he is very gracious and humble.

I especially liked the way he apologized to Kerry Healy for Glodis’s ridiculous witch jokes.

I think it is funny that Hart is the host of a really lousy event yet to me everyone in the room looks silly except him.
