The Herald called it a little over a week ago: Julie Teer, at present Romney’s State House spokesperson, will leave her state-funded job and move to Romney’s CommonwealthPAC that is serving as his presidential campaign operation. Teer ran the 2004 Bush-Cheney operation in New Hampshire, and has worked on numerous other Republican campaigns.
Further evidence that the Governor’s Office is being starved of oxygen: Teer will not be replaced. Instead, her job will be divvied up among Eric Fehrnstrom and a couple of underlings. Oh, but not to worry – we know that Massachusetts is still Mitt Romney’s “first priority.” How do we know that? Why, because Julie Teer told us so!
It’s funny to look back to about a year ago when Teer was hired. At the time, Jane Lane, then the Dems’ spokesperson, “predicted Romney will use Teer for his ‘presidential campaign.'” Prescient, Jane, prescient.

Check out how Romney hurts his back bending over to imply the acceptable different between a fee and a tax.

What is it with conservatives and labels? Some will support civil unions as long as we don’t use the word marriage. Some will support eroding freedoms as long as we use the word “patriot.” And some will support fees as long as we don’t call them “taxes.”

Romney’s parsing words faster than an indicted Republican on speed.

Meanwhile, Romney, in the article, noted:

Well, when you NEGOTIATE, you give and take, 50-50. If the bill is 90 to 95% what Romney originally wanted, then he has already won the negotiation, in theory. So holding out makes him a conservative’s second biggest nightmare, an obstructionist!! (A conservative’s biggest nightmare, if you’re wondering, is an activist judiciary.)

Jane Lane, beyond being a top spokeswoman, is a first class political observer.

If only the GOPpers took such pride in their job.
