Dr. Sam Kelley will be on the Chet Curtis show tonight at 8 pm to discuss the passing of the new health care legislation.
He is currently the Medical Director of the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC). In the past he was an administrator for Tri-City Health Care where he contracted with nursing homes across the state, providing thousands of jobs for Massachusetts residents.
Part of his job at MSPCC is to handle many of the health care issues on a daily basis. I could not think of a better expert on health care than Dr. Kelley to discuss the new legislation and how it will affect the average Massachusetts resident.
Please share widely!
I thought Dr. Kelley did and excellent job last night on the Chet Curtis show. The reform taking place fostered by the new health care legislation is a historic first step taken by the state government of Massachusetts so that one day every citizen will be insured. As Sam pointed out, the bill is a “template”; a start not a finish. Costs are still too high, the good doctor reminds us, and that is a burden still felt by our citizens, especially our middle class who will not receive government assistance. However, Sam made a great point, at the very least the bill forces larger companies who can no doubt afford health care and simply choose not to, like Wal-Mart, to finally step up to the plate and do the right thing.

With this first step taken it becomes clearer than ever how valuable Dr. Kelley could be in the corner office, Sam is the only LG candidate who knows what steps two and three are. Clearly NECN recognizes Dr. Kelley as a health care expert and as Dr. Kelley himself points out, he knows healthcare âforward, backward, and upside-down.â The Republican Governor and Lt. Governor have abandoned our state and it will take the dedication of a physician to get right down to business and push to cure our health care crisis.

For those of you who are of the âqualified to be Lt. Governor, just not qualified to winâ category, Dr. Kelley was on cable news by himself as an expert, and did you see the look in his eyes when he attacked the Republican corner office? Dr. Kelley is fired up to win and to bring Democratic values, health, and prosperity back to our great commonwealth.
I agree with SuperDem12. Sam seems to be the only candidate in the Lieutenant Governorâs race that has an intimate understanding of the complexities of the health care system. His comments on the new health plan seemed informed and well thought out; he seemed more like a policy expert than a partisan!

Dr. Kelley is the type of Lieutenant Governor we need: someone who can act as a interlocutor between the Governor and the legislature, using his unique repertoire of expertise and what seems to be a strong political sensibility to find a solution to the Commonwealthâs problems.
