If you want a sneak peak at what Kerry Healey and Reed Hillman are going to be lobbing at the Dems for the next few months, head on over to Hub Politics, which has been doggedly live-blogging the state Republican non-evention this weekend.
A couple of highlights:
From Kerry Healey:
“Then there was the time the other party decided it wold be a food idea to use taxpayer money to subsidize in-state tuition for illegal immigrants at our public colleges and the University of Massachusetts. And here we have to give credit where it is due. Though many in the other party favored this bill, it was the Attorney General of Massachusetts who led the charge.”
“Attorney General Tom Reilly, in particular, seems to think that his own nomination is a sure thing and the governor’s office an inevitable promotion.”
“Deval Patrick, at least, is up front about his big spending plans for this station and his intention to oppose tax cuts.”
“But, I guess you could say that candor from a committed liberal like Deval Patrick is better than the flop-flopping of a political chameleon like Tom Reilly…. maybe you’ve heard the late-breaking news that Tom Reilly claims he is now suddenly on board with the tax rollback. If it’s true, I’m sure we’ll see him lobby as hard for the tax rollback as he does to give taxpayer-funded benefits to illegal aliens.”
From Reed Hillman:
“The voters need to remember two things about Tom Reilly when it comes to the tax rollback – and neither of them is good for taxpayers. He now says he is for it. But earlier this week when his fellow members of the majority party once again voted against the tax rollback Tom Reilly did nothing to convince his state house pals to honor the will of the voters.”
He then applauds Deval Patrick for having the courage to take a clear position. “… while I disagree with Deval Patrick’s position, and believe it’s an anchor on our economy, I find his candor refreshing even if the medicine tastes bitter.”
From Mitt Romney:
“…If you want your tax bill to grow, vote for Deval Patrick. If you want special interests to grow, vote for Tom Reilly. If you want government to grow, vote for Chris Gabrieli.”
“But if you want jobs to grow, take home pay to grow, education standards to grow, and personal freedoms to grow, then vote for Kerry Healey.”

throw your own punches and don’t even acknowledge their arguments!

the first step to getting off the ropes is to stop blocking and start attacking.
<

do we really need another four years of irresponsible Republicans, who are more interested in Iowa and South Carolina than Massachusetts?
<
p>
do we really want more empty promises?
<

it’s time for a change at the State House!

the only thing I would use from the GOP comments today is from Reed Hillman, who should fire his speechwriter:

As do I.

Better than the “be nice” DNC Convention in Boston, which started off the dithering drive to defeat that was the 2004 Kerry campaign. The Republicans, by contrast, led by Zell Miller, as one may recall, were aggressive, and won. Let’s see what comes out of Worcester.

Just one person’s (and Reilly supporter’s) opinion of what really took place at yesterday’s GOP convention: Why Kerry Healey Fears Tom Reilly’s Candidacy.
