MaverickDem posted about this already, but I’ll just cut and paste a little more from Reilly’s press release on health care. This is a good effort, and includes some ideas we’ve talked about on these very pages, er, bits: emphasis on prevention; bulk-purchasing of prescription drugs and reimportation from Canada; more information in the marketplace; use of technology to make record-keeping more efficient (which apparently is a shockingly large inefficiency in health care).
Fighting for affordable, higher quality care by:
Replacing handwritten methods of ordering prescription drugs and lab tests with more efficient computerized systems Adopting electronic health records so that all of a patient’s doctors can access his/her medical history Using culturally competent community-based care coordinators to help patients manage chronic conditions, focus on preventive care, and avoid expensive emergency room visits Making prescription drugs safe and more affordable by:
Establishing a statewide program for the safe re-importation of drugs from Canada Joining with other states in bulk purchasing coalitions to negotiate lower prescription drug prices
It goes on, and the pdf they sent out is more comprehensive (hey Reilly folks, where’s the link on your site?). There are a lot of good things in there. The implementation of the personal mandate is referred to, but not with any detail; hard to blame him for that at this point. In any event, well done to Reilly for getting specific.

I do hope that the first two bullets (involving computing) also require sufficient security to protect my medical records from id thieves and pharmacutical companies.

My Viagra perscription shouldn’t result in me receiving more advertisements for Cialis, so to speak.

Thanks, Charley, for giving this some additional attention.

I used a link from Reilly’s website in my initial post that provided the more detailed .pdf version of his “Prescription for a Healthy Massachusetts”, so it is there. However, I noticed that they have it under the Massachusetts Action Plan section and not the link from the front page.

Thankfully, for Blue Mass Groupies, it’s right here on this site.
