For those of you from the “Peoples Republic of Cambridge” would be very proud of the management of the City. Kriss cites Cambridge as an example of a city that is living within its means. “The city has a relatively robust stability factor of 4.6 percent, largely because it has been able to keep its healthcare costs under control.”
So, if the City of Cambridge, the liberal bastion of progressive liberal thinking is able to manage its fiscal affairs ,why do certain candidates insist on raising taxes to generate municipal revenues rather than promoting sound fiscal management practices?

I treat anything Eric Kriss says with great suspicion. He is, after all, the person who tried to divide the state up into “givers” and “takers.” If Cambridge has its finances under control, good for Cambridge. But Cambridge is also a very fortunate place, with lots of powerful people. That it should need less help from the state from the rest of us should be no surprise to anyone. For Kriss to lecture cities & towns about their fiscal management practices and to use Cambridge as his teacher’s pet shows that he has no idea what cities and towns who are less well off are really going through. Have Kriss come out to Colrain or Heath and talk to them about “fiscal management.” He’ll get an earful about the price of gas and the state’s forgotten promises to pay regional schools for transportation costs.
