The Globe’s political editor, David Dahl, has written up a blog post confirming what I wrote a couple of weeks back: it doesn’t look like Ameriquest’s Dawn Arnall ever contributed anything to the ironically-named “Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.” She did contribute $5 million to the Progress for America Voter Fund, and she donated another couple hundred thou to the Republican Governors Association. But nothing to the Swifties.
So all of the questions posed by Bob in his letter to the Deval Patrick campaign have now been answered!
Please share widely!

So what that the Arnalls didn’t give specifically to SBVT?
<

They gave to PAVF and the Bush campaign and organized tons more in other contributions for Bush.
<
p>
The guy is a Bush Republican dirtbag.
<
p>
And Deval Patrick supported his bid for an Ambassadorship.
<
p>
THAT is my issue.
<

Everything else is just window dressing. Address the issue at hand instead of discrediting the sideshow issues.

It probably doesn’t bother you, Brighton Guy, that they support Tom Reilly.
<

Right? Or is that a “sideshow issue?”

As I’ve said before in posts, there’s no problem with being friends with Republicans – this isn’t a witch hunt.
<

Wayne Budd and Ralph Martin didn’t organize MILLIONS of dollars in contributions for Bush and the right wing. Arnall did, whether it was for Swift Boats or not.
<
p>
And Deval supported his political appointment.
<
p>
Once again, THAT is the issue.

I am delighted. I do still think the Patrick campaign deserves a demerit for not doing this digging a few weeks ago and releasing it. The Globe should not have to do their work for them, but bravo to “dahl” and the newspaper. As to BrightonGuy’s point (and who exactly are you Mr. Guy? and why so passionate? please add some information about yourself to your bio page when you have a chance), that is a separate question — valid, perhaps, but separate. I do want to point out, however, for the record, that I have now been criticized in the same day, for the same post, by (a) Patrick supporters, who accused me of raising this issue to hurt their favorite, and (b) a Reilly supporter, who accuses me of raising this issue to shift attention from more damaging material and help Patrick. I’ll take that as a compliment since, as I wrote, I personally am undecided in the Governor’s race.

It works for the Bush Administration. : )
