UPDATE: link corrected. And yes, Goldberg did give herself a million bux. Nice if you got it… unless she puts in a couple more (which she might), not sure it’s gonna tip the balance against two other more substantive candidates.

How the heck did Goldberg outraise everyone else by at least a factor of 15?

P.S. Dead link.

One million dollars!

Between finding the actual link with the million dollar check and referencing Austin Powers, I figured somebody would throw me a ‘4’.
<

I guess this place either has no sense of humor, or far too sophisticated a sense for my abilities.
dcsohl says
Two reasons why maybe the ‘4’s were long in coming.
<
p>
First of all, you didn’t linkify that URL. That is a wicked long URL which forces the comments to be wider and kind of throws off the page. You should consider using tinyURL or wrapping the link in an tag.
<
p>
Secondly, that URL doesn’t lead me anywhere. I get a “session expired” link when I follow it, and I have to go through the main page to search for that report manually. Not really your fault, of course, especially as I couldn’t find any “permanent” and portable link…
<
p>
For anybody else who had this problem, start at the main page and click on “View Reports”, then “Candidates”, then find Goldberg’s name on the pull-down and “Search”, then look at the April 2006 Bank Report (filed on 5/1/2006) and look at the Deposit Report for 4/24/2006.

Hoss,

Did this come from the OCPF data?
<

Did you identify how much was self-financing? Seems like a fairly obvious conclusion that $1m of the Goldberg money was her own — what about the others?

Comments: Goldberg seems pretty confident of getting on the Primary ballot. Kelley’s campaign seems to be struggling. He was mentioned in a Glob article as having hired signature gatherers.
stomv says
he may have made the strategic decision that he had more money than volunteer hours. That may bode poorly on his future, or it may signal that he’s just putting his resources elsewhere.

Personally, I think using hired signature gatherers is tacky, and I don’t sign petitions offered by hired hands.

Quite simply: They should be banned.

Clink on OCPF links over at my site.
