I just attended an event at the 6B Lounge in Boston where Suffolk County Sheriff Andrea J. Cabral enthusiastically endorsed Tim Murray for Lt. Governor. This is a woman I hold in high esteem and have strong respect for. She has done so much for the area she represents and is the first female in Commonwealth to hold the position of Suffolk Sheriff.
Sheriff Cabral spoke of Murray’s ability to bring about change to the Commonwealth, and that he brings the experience necessary to get the job done. She said that she is endorsing him because he is a proven leader; citing that during his tenure he has brought unprecedented growth to the City of Worcester by bringing in the most outside funding (something I didn’t know, and was excited to hear). Most importantly she explained that Tim Murray is the only candidate that can help every single one of the Democratic Nominees for Governor. His experience would make the Democratic ticket stronger to take on the Republicans in November.
I’d say that the event had about 40 Murray supporters and along with several undecided voters and delegates. Afterwards about 15 supportors went over to Suffolk Law School to hold signs for Tim. There there were only 2 Goldberg supporters and no Kelly or Silbert sign holders. I had to leave early to go home, but I am sure the LG forum at Suffolk Law will go well.
Thought I’d keep you BMGers in the loop đŸ™‚

Thanks for your good wishes, the event truly did go well, with more than 100 people attending, as well as Boston Neighborhood Network, which will televise it over the next several weeks.

Mayor Murray did mention his support from Sheriff Cabral, while the other candidates touted their priorities and experience as well. At an after-forum gathering at Silvertones of about 15 people, consensus was that Murray and Silbert had done very well and would garner most of the support, followed by Deb Goldberg.

This event drew together 8 wards of the Second Suffolk as well as the Young Dems of Mass. and DFA-Boston. Thanks to all for participating!
