For those interested in political goings-on out here in the hinterlands, I’ve posted a few comments about the “official” start of the State Senate race for our open seat.
We won’t know until after the May 30 deadline the full line-up of candidates, but the campaign is clearly underway already.
Ben Downing is the youngest of the candidates, but has plenty of relevant experience, and comes from a politically well-connected family. His late father was the DA in Berkshire County for many years, and was widely respected and liked.

I don’t post here much, but I read regularly. I am from Pittsfield, and Ben happens to be my brother. As a fellow hinterlander, I much appreciate someone reminding others that Massachusetts extends well beyond Springfield. BTW, I enjoy your blog.
