Why does her receipt of lobbyest $$$ any different from any othe candidate. I am not sure I follow.
Why Marie?

Sorry, when I check out the contributions of the local reps I know I find at least some local support in their own districts along with the insiders. I found it strange that St. Fleurâs list was the usual suspects only.

My larger point wasâ¦as the true believers line up behind Deval, the insiders line up with Gabs, and Reilly holds on for dear life, the shadow government hides in plain sight.

Why St. Fleur? Color me suspicious. Releasing info on the weekend before the holiday; there has to be something in there they want to hide. I was betting you were the guy who knew.

I guess this is old news so itâs off to the Cape. Happy 4th!

Brennans et al. are not doing their job if they don’t contribute.
Are you saying Marie St. Fleur is in Brennan’s back pocket?
I’m not following.

I doubt there is a whole lot of campaign donators floating around her very urban district. Who do you think she is? Jay Kaufman?
But St. Fleur’s district? Sorry one hand. No conspiracy here.
Good effort though. Keep it up.
This is the end of the fundraising quarter. Everyone is releasing their fundraising numbers now, if that’s what you’re talking about.

Rep. Marie St. Fleur is working the system as it currently exists. So, what’s the big deal? She didn’t create it, and the structure is such that the power structure in Massachusetts wants to keep it that way. Hardly her fault.

I suppose if she had to rely on contributions just inside her district, then she’d be a failure, because she couldn’t match the power of the wealthy suburban ring.
<
p>
Believe it or not, there are people and interests outside of her district that have an interest in seeing her re-elected. Her personal situation aside, she is an active and articulate voice for those concerns in society.

Attack the system, be my guest, but I agree with the responant to your post, don’t blame her for the demographics in her district… or that fact that with the power of her position there are certain perks.

Personal travails aside, she’s really an impressive legislator.

Not sure how her donor list looks a lot different from other candidates in low-income neighborhoods, where folks most likely give to their church, not political campaigns.
I agree that the donation stuff is much ado about nothing. But I’m in her district, GGW, and I honestly don’t feel like most folks I know in the neighborhood are too impressed–or even aware of who she is. She brings in certain funding to local institutions, like any legislator should, but I haven’t seen much leadership. What does she do that makes you feel she’s an impressive legislator? I’m curious.

Patricia Brett, Jim Brett, Tom Finneran … these are well-liked and very rooted leaders in Dorchester — as is St. Fleur. This is her community. She’s still highly respected here.
