Here it is.
I was saving this for âErnie â10â. But for you Devalâ¦.. I sacrifice my self interest for the greater good
On the very first day in office, before dealing with economy, education, and so forth, the new governor signs an executive order that pretty much says this:
Unless ordered by the governor, no state employee, division, department, agency, battalion or anything else shall ever ever ever ever close a traffic lane on Storrow Drive.
Thatâs it. Plain and Simple. Their excuse is public safety. Actually it is so the people {meaning cops, state workers, and a few special friends. ] who have to work there on Sat and Sun have a place to park when they arrive before the public. I am sure it is rigged to look legit. Maybe 10% go the public. As a result, traffic backs up to Assembly Square on Rt. 93 and back into the Big Dig tunnel for commuters coming from the south.
Ever see an ambulance trying to get through it to get to Mass. General?
Many many voters have sat in this traffic. It is a direct route to Fenway Park. They are so happy when to see, when they finally arrive, that all this traffic was the result of accommodating, I donât know?. Letâs be generous. Two Hundred cars. (Try 50 – maybe)
This is a perfect example of the Republican arrogance running amok since 1992. When you get down to the basics there is the âlet emâ eat cakeâ elitist attitude
Oh, I could go on about the arrogance of government. The arrogance of some public safety types. The reason I would rather take my chances with the terrorists than with this new military/security guard complex we are evolving into. Iâm glad MA lost out on Homeland Security funds.(Thatâs another post)
But anyway, thatâs not the point. Just an added benefit. You get to piss off cops. Not just any cops, but state troopers. Ernie guarantees that most cops/state troopers are great people. (personal experience â not gratuitous) But this Storrow Drive situation is a great example of cop mentality. And the steroid injected, rage head, crew cut type that unfortunately are becoming the norm in these âdangerous timesâ of ours will stand with their arms (guns) folded and stare down the common man because thatâs what dumb bullies do.
I wrote about this months ago! But I hope all the candidates take your advice. I continue to think the Hatch Shell parking thing is one of the stupidest policies going right now.
Sorry David, I remembered someone bitching about it but I could not find it. (actually I remember thousands bitching about. I said it was no brainer)
Yesterday I said this ” it is not a ‘why didn’t I think of that idea’.
“Rather, it is a “yeah, me and a bazillion other people have already thought of it and wished we could do it.”

You don’t have to be original to be a good public official. Or creative. That is the point. You have to empathize with people and execute. Basic basic shit.
Ray Flynn was not a rocket scientist or original.
Ernie’s never claimed to be smarter then everyone else. Just louder.
Ernie, is that it? I’ve been waiting breathlessly for you to show me the electoral holy grail–I barely slept last night waiting for this and all you got is a plan that will make Boston area voters happy?
<
p>
Democrats don’t need those voters…we already got them. We need to persaude the voters on the 128 – 495 belt to vote with us. We’re getting creamed out there and unless you come up with a plan that speaks to thoses voters–I ain’t listening.
<

More of the same old.
If a creative ad agency can’t make the masses angry through photos, video, facts and audio, then I give-up.
I hope you werenât expecting something on gay marriage, minimum wage, etc. Deval has to get into office before he can start serving the higher cause.
<
p>
Keep it Simple Stupid. This is Simple, Stupid.
This is what Ernie is all about. You either get it or you donât. Like art.
“Democrats don’t need those voters…we already got them.”
<
p>
Where do people driving to red sox games come from?
Where does Rt. 93 go? Quincy to Somerville?
<
p>
“More of the same old.”
Sorry Frank, you must be thinking of that shit that’s been coming from all the candidates for the last 6 months.
Somerville by a huge margin, Quincy JUST barely. We need to pander to those exburbs–dream up a no brainer for them. I ain’t heard nothing from the Dem candidates that excite this area. Mayde Star Trek transporter technology to ease their commute–that would win lots of those voters.
<
p>
So, sorry Ernie–you’re just preaching to the same old Dem base.
and people coming from southeastern mass, southwest of boston, and Cape Cod eventually use it before getting on Storrow Drive. It is always like that bgoing to a saturday or sunday afternoon game. tens of thousands inconvenienced for the benefit of a very few.
<
p>
The abuse of government. Hacks. I think this is an issue the dems can use like repubs use willie horton
Jesus Christ, Frank, don’t you get it? At least sixty percent of the Massachusetts population reside within the 128 loop. Sure, some folks out in Lee or Greenfield have no idea of what Ernie is talking about but everyone else does. Nothing pisses me off more than seeing the right lane of Storrow Drive full of parked cars so that a few hundred people can watch some jackass juggling in front of the ugly Fiedler bust.
<
p>
I guess that Frank is threatened by Ernie’s new-found notoriety. There is a new bully on the block and his name is Ernie Boch!!!
If it were, it would solve the traffic problem on Storrow Drive by (i) banning private vehicle traffic in the city limits of Boston; (ii) increasing the gasoline tax to $590 per gallon; and (iii) using the proceeds of the tax to (a) fund a massive expansion of commuter rail service; and (ii) create 15 quasi-public authorities, each with taxing and eminent domain powers, to build and maintain all the new railway, and to enforce a new policy in which tickets are priced on a sliding scale according to the rider’s net worth, as indicated by cross-referencing the rider’s government issued Unversal Health Care ID (no biometric data, please, we’re civil libertarians) against the rider’s most recent monthly tax return.
<
p>
You did mean that BMG was the base, right?
They vote heavy Democratic and places like Somerville, Cambridge, Brookline, Newton and Arlington–who would all be in favor of EBs idea–are already heavily Dems.
<
p>
We need a plan that attracts new Exburb voters.
Stop looking at maps with pretty colors. This isn’t about carrying precinct 4 in Attleboro. Look at the big picture.
<
p>
Your fans are very disappointed in your reasoning on this. Very not ‘in-tune’ with the people. Get out of the cellar Frank. Stop analyzing maps. Come join the people. Come into the light.
