UPDATE: RevDeb points out that the net neutrality bill is getting marked up today in the Senate.
You may notice an ad to the right that says “See the future of the internet!” along with a lame drawing of Boston’s first album cover. It’s from a telco-industry-funded, anti-net neutrality group. We three BMG’ers have talked about it, and we’re leaving it up, in the interest of 1. “encouraging vigorous debate”, and 2. “taking their money.” I gather that the band Boston decided #2 was reasonable, too.
I should say that it makes me a little queasy … but Atrios and Josh Marshall are doing the same. And we’re all jumping off the Brooklyn Bridge, too!
What do you think?
Please share widely!

But that might be because I don’t see the ad on the site.

And be sure to cash their check quickly.

After the Worcester blogger shindig, I was afraid you’d fallen off the face of the earth. No so! You’re doing fine work over at Firedoglake with the Roots Project. Could I talk you into doing a user post that describes the project and giving BMGers an update on how it’s going — and perhaps more importantly, what we can do to help.

Nice to see you around.

We have several things going on right now and would love to work WITH the BMG.

as awash in money and as concerned about this legislation, the Telco industry probably just dropped dough on thousands of ads through out the blogosphere and has no one checking them.
<

to that end, I would put a specific disclaimer right under the ad, perhaps even a simple link to this post.

screw these Telco jackasses
stomv says
that their website is handsoff.net or somesuch, and that’s exactly what net neutrality proposes — to keep the telco’s hands off of the Internet.
<

Net neutrality is a good thing.

As for whether or not BMG should be taking their money — well, that’s up to BMG. I would assume that there are some sources of funding BMG would turn down, but this is an edge case. We can’t see your finances, and so we have no idea how much you need this cash to keep the site up. It’s a tradeoff, and hopefully you’ll make enough money off of An Inconvenient Truth’s ad that you can drop that other one.

The “Inconvenient Truth” thing isn’t a paid ad – it’s just something we put up because we think people should see the film.
notsoblue says
Anyone know of a good site that can help present both sides of the debate to me?
david says
Is that what that’s supposed to be?
