Mike at Marry in Massachusetts sees an interesting connection between the apparently-triumphant Cape Wind and the Federal Marriage Amendment — receding federalism. In any event, he’s got a good rundown of the sequence of events leading to Congress’ green-lighting removing a barrier to Cape Wind. Check it out.

We’re a LONG way from a green light! However, Congress DID remove Uncle Ted’s artificial roadblock.

This Friday night in Dennis, the Cape Cinema (www.capecinema.com), the most beautiful theatre in the whole world, is holding a special premiere screening of An Inconvenient Truth – with a live debate between Jim Gordon and the Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound as a vaudeville follow-up!

I really want to hear how the Gore-worshippers turn on a dime and say ‘Yeah, but…’ to Cape Wind.

I got my $10 ticket and my wind turbine button – and I can’t wait!

I’d love for you to write a diary with a clear description of this Friday’s events, complete with hyperlinks and images… and then for the BMG folks to front page it. That’s good stuff — you’ve got national and local issues, supporting an indy theatre, local activism.

Also — maybe add the event to the front page calendar?

bring your camcorder or minidisc recorder or something! This sounds like it should be a knock-down drag-out event.

I have recorded the entire debate – 1 hour, 5 minutes. BOTH sides did a very credible and interesting job.

I cannot share it with you because Cape Cod Commission boy, who was one of the worst moderators I have ever seen (League of Women Voters, where are you?), said from the stage that ‘recording voices without prior consent is illegal’.

This was a movie theatre, with over 300 people – he is thinking of phone calls where there is an expectation of privacy, not a public meeting open to anyone! The theatre owner said it was against Federal law to record in a movie theatre, but that would be if I was recording the MOVIE – and I ONLY recorded the debate. Ironcally, at least 4 people that I know of ALSO recorded the debate, but I was singled out from the stage.

I’m waiting for a lawyer friend to clarify this for me, and when I do, I will add the recording to the post. I already have permisssion from Mark Rogers of Cpape Wind and Christy Mihos on behalf of the Alliance – but you know you have to tremble when the Cape Cod COMMISSION makes a ‘legal’ pronouncement off the cuff!
