I attended a little fundraiser for Andrea Silbert last night. It was in The Wine Cellar of the Federalist Restaurant (just a lottery ticketâs throw away from the State House.) It got off to a great start at 5PM, because I had forgotten the checkbook, alas, it turned not so great at 5:01PM, because my wife had already written the check! After a chat with Andrea, I see that my wife spends our campaign contributions wisely.
The smallish room wasnât yet crowded, as the House was still in session. Scott Harshbarger (remember him) was in attendance, and in a good mood. He has a great voice â Memo to Phil Johnston: Please try to get Scott to do the voiceovers in any TV or radio commercials that the state party makes.
Eventually, the State Reps poured in (I guess the session went late), the open bar was swamped, and the decibel level approached the red zone. The lights were briefly dimmed (with my immediate thinking that we probably have a brown out), and the quiet allowed Andrea to make a few quick remarks. She was pleased to identify Robert Quinn at the back of the room, and I believe I saw Thomas P. OâNeill III in the room as well. It is almost always fun to be in a room full of Democrats. Last night was fun. Thank you Andrea!
Have I really spent half an hour writing this throwaway post? Now you’re wasting time reading it! Get back to work!

that your suggestion for Harshbarger to record the party’s announcements was meant in jest!

I didn’t say that we should identify who the annonomous voice is in said commercials. Politics aside, he has that smooth resonant (basso cantante?) voice going strong. Perhaps it was due to the acoustics in the wine cellar, but I was favorably impressed. I defer, though, to the resident voice expert, sir!
