For some reason that I cannot even begin to explain, the “Latest News” box that I tried to install on the left sidebar yesterday screwed up the site big time for a lot of users. I’ve taken it down until I can figure out what happened. I apologize for the inconvenience.
One reason it was so hard to figure out is that I wasn’t having any problems. Any techies out there have any ideas? I run Firefox on Windows XP, and everything looked just fine. I heard from another Firefox user that he was having problems, but that it looked OK in IE, and I don’t know if he uses Windows or a Mac. And another Firefox user who uses a Mac also reported difficulties.
Thoughts??

noncompliant HTML. Maybe a hanging tag that browsers handled with different grace?

I never actually looked at the code, so I can’t be sure. There are plenty of webservices which check HTML code for compliance. You might want to run the page through one of those, and see if you’re using some nonstandard tag or formatting or somesuch.

It’s fine now. For whatever it’s worth I use Windows XP.
