The big dig was the exclusive domain of the Unions . Open shop contractors were not allowed .The public had to pay 30% more for the labor involved … Modern Continental was 100% union and its current successor J Cashman is 100% union.
The public received an inferior product for a premium price that we will be paying for a long time. One person has been killed as a result of their crappy job. Why are the press and political establishment silent? Construction unions will prove to be the curse of the liberal establishment.
“Union Built”…what a joke.

Read the 1998 report by the inspector general regarding the bolt failures. What you will see is that this problem has absolutely nothing to do with construction workers. Actually the report is very critical of the contract itself because critical sections of it were incredibly vague leading to many of these problems.

So let me as you this: if I give you a blue print that is filled with flaws and you follow that blueprint is it the fault of the architect and engineers or of the construction workers?

And you’re exactly right, Andy. It seems as if RML wanted to say something bad about unions, so he found out unions worked on the Big Dig and blamed them for a failure and a death. If RML cared about the logic of his point, then before he wrote his post, he would have asked himself: What if the Big Dig had been done by non-union labor? By a bunch of undocumented immigrants bussed up from Texas, say? Would that have changed the bolt-fixture design?

But on the other hand, if one asks, “What if the leaders in charge of building it were changed?” one can see a more likely different outcome. Leaders failed us.

but either forgot to install the epoxy or ignored the procedure in accordance with the specifications. The plans and specifications were fine . Inspectors never asleep at the switch. Please don’t show your ignorance, I have been involved in this before you were born. Union contractors are a fraud and have held the public hostage for years. This is a perfect example.

Let’s use his logic in other ways

Oxygen kills humans…

(for those of you who do not frequent DailyKos, recipes are a common response to trolls.)

I did respond with facts. Facts you promptly ignored and have yet to respond to. You say that the contract was perfect. Have you read the contract? I read the inspector general report that cited various sections of the contract and those sections were far from clear. Sadly, one section of the report that was cited as being particularly inept was the section dealing with the installation of the bolts. Bechtel told the workers to install the bolts FIVE MONTHS before the official approval was given. This the last repsonse you will get from me because it is clear that you are not interested in talking, you prefer ignorant happy land.

Save your energy. The fastest way to make a troll go away is to ignore him or her. I think that is why recipes tips are common at DailyKos (along with the ability to troll rate comments – which is given to trusted users).

After I saved the comment I regretted it because I realized I was just throwing another log on the fire.
